Deposit and Pickup Agreement: A $300 nonrefundable deposit is required to hold your puppy or to put you on the current wait list. The deposit will be applied to the purchase price, there will be another deposit of $200 when the litter is born and the final payment is due in cash when the puppy is picked up. Puppies may be picked up at 8 weeks old at Doane Family Golden Retrievers or transported out by the breeder via ground transportation or flight nanny, all expenses paid by the buyer. If the puppy is being transported out by the breeder then arrangements must be made prior to the puppy turning 6 weeks old. If the puppy is flying an extra vet check is needed for a health certificate for the airline.
This puppy is guaranteed to be healthy at the time of adoption. The Breeder does not assume any liability for any injury to the puppy after the adopter takes possession of the puppy.
Health Guarantee: Doane Family Golden Retrievers takes pride in producing healthy dogs with wonderful temperaments for loving homes. Every reasonable precaution has been taken to prevent this puppy from acquiring any hereditary diseases. The Breeder guarantees the health of this puppy until 24 months of age. Should this puppy develop Hip Dysplasia, either mild, moderate or severe, elbow dysplasia or any other life threatening condition the Breeder will take this puppy back for a full refund or replace it with another puppy as soon as available. If such an inherited defect should occur, the adopter must supply the Breeder with a written explanation from a qualified Veterinary specialist along with hip/elbow radiographs. The Breeder is not responsible for any veterinary bills incurred by the adopter. The Breeder will also bring the puppy to their Veterinarian for a second opinion before any decisions are made.
Breeder’s Lifetime Commitment: The Breeder will take this dog back at any time during the lifetime of the dog. With this commitment, the buyer should never consider euthanizing the dog or taking it to an Animal Shelter. The Breeder will not issue a refund or provide another puppy to the Buyer unless the dog’s return falls under the Breeder’s Health guarantee.
Breed Guarantee: Breeder guarantees this is a purebred dog, offspring of the purebred sire and purebred dam at the top of this agreement.
Fitness of Purpose: This dog is bred as a companion animal. Although this dog may be capable of excellence in obedience trials, hunting, or service animal, no warranty is provided by the Breeder as to its fitness for any specific purpose. Doane Family Golden Retriever does not guarantee color, size, temperament, or championship.
Buyer’s Representations
Spay/Neutering: This puppy is being purchased with limited AKC registration (Pet only). This dog should NOT be fixed before 12 months of age unless recommended by a licensed Veterinarian. Research has shown early spaying or neutering greatly increases the risk of hip and elbow dysplasia.
The buyer agrees this dog will not be bred on purpose or on accident. If this dog sires or whelps a litter while on limited registration, the Buyer agrees to pay the Breeder the difference that is required to have Full Registration.
Full Registration may be purchased in the future at the Breeder’s sole discretion at an additional cost and only after the dog has completed and passed all OFA health testing (proof must be shown to the Breeder).
Buyer’s Companion: The Buyer agrees that this dog will live with the Buyer as his or her companion. The Buyer also agrees that he or she is not an agent for another person or business in this purchase.
General Well Being: The Buyer agrees to maintain the dog in an adequate enclosed area and will not allow the dog to roam at will. The Buyer WILL NOT chain or tether the dog in the yard or keep the dog permanently in a kennel since research has shown that this causes anti-social behavior in dogs.
The Buyer agrees to maintain the puppy’s health in good condition, feed a 4+ star rated dog food (by the Dog Food Advisor) maintain good weight control and provide yearly health examinations, vaccinations, heartworm tests and any other usual procedures necessary to assure good health.
Veterinarian Health Check: The Buyer agrees to have a licensed veterinarian check the health of this puppy within 5 business days after delivery of the dog. This is to ensure the Buyer’s confidence in the health of this dog and to establish a veterinarian relationship. If there is a problem with the dog’s health (excluding worms, coccidia, giardia or any other parasites common in puppies) please contact the Breeder immediately. Written confirmation of health concern from the veterinarian is required.
Transfer of Ownership: The Buyer will not sell, give or release this dog to a pet shop, retail store, dog dealer or animal testing facility. If the Buyer wishes to transfer ownership to another person, the Buyer must receive the Breeder’s permission in writing.
The Buyer also agrees they have received the document “13 Things to Consider Before Buying a Golden Retriever”, or did not receive a copy as I already know enough about the breed and I am confident that a Golden Retriever is a good fit for me and I understand the challenges that come with owning a Golden Retriever. I state that if for any reason I am unable to properly care for this dog that I will return him or her to the Breeder.

Entire Agreement
This contract represents the entire agreement between the Breeder and the Buyer. No other promises or guarantees are made. The conditions of this agreement may only be changed in writing by mutual consent of both parties.
The Buyer has read and understands the Adoption Agreement with Limited Registration in its entirety and agrees that all parts and portions thereof constitute a binding agreement. Further, signatures below acknowledge agreement and receipt of this agreement by both parties.
